Colorado Futuretek Awards Celebration Showcases Our Students and Seniors
On Saturday, August 3, Colorado Futuretek celebrated our amazing high school and middle school students, senior citizen students, generous supporters, dedicated instructors, board of directors and board of advisors.
This year’s theme was “Transforming Lives, Impacting Communities” and showcased the true impact our programs have on seniors and students in the Denver area and beyond. Raymond, a student in our Intro to Cybersecurity Class is one such student. Not only was he excited to take the class, but afterwards, he wanted to learn even more and gain experience in the field.
“I had the opportunity to get into a program that teaches you about Cybersecurity. Why wouldn’t I take that? After going through the class, I now want to find an internship to expand my knowledge.”
— Raymond, Introduction to Cybersecurity Class
Each year, we look forward to the next set of opportunities to continue and expand our programs, giving African American and minority youth & senior citizens free training in this digital age.
Some of the highlights from this year’s program were:
- – 36 students completing our SummerTEK Course
- – 6 Students passed the ESB Professional Communication Certification
- – Our STEAM students built a 3D Ocean diorama—all from scratch. They learned the basics of 3-dimensional design in Microsoft Paint 3D, plus basic coding with Minecraft, and Entrepreneurship Basics.
- – Our seniors completed another 4-week course in Summer SilverTeks covering the basics, along with some advanced features, of Microsoft 365 Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
None of this would be possible without your support and donations, which help us to continue to provide technology training, personal finance training, career readiness and paid internships. And special thanks goes to our Strategic Sponsors, and Awards Celebration Sponsors, whose large contributions make Colorado Futuretek possible.
